From the 12th – 18th November 2023 twelve students (4th and 5th grades) of the BG/BRG Judenburg participated in the first Erasmus+ students’ exchange “eVentus” at the bilingual grammar school “Dwujęzyczna Szkoła Podstawowa nr 1, ul.Wspólna 5505-075 Warszawa – Wesoła” in Warsaw. The students were accompanied by the teachers Mag. Michael Kurzemann and Mag. Florian Kaltenegger.
The main aim of this project is to strengthen STEM subjects at the BG/BRG Judenburg and to implement these subjects in an Erasmus+ context. Further goals are:
– The development of STEM competences (“mathematics, computer science, natural science, technology”) using English and the topic “wind energy as an alternative renewable energy source” by participating in an interdisciplinary project.
– Development of digital competences.
– Building and promoting global citizenship through multicultural collaboration and interactive teaching.
– Strengthening skills such as entrepreneurship, creativity and strategic thinking.
– The integration of students with special needs
– Building partnerships with European schools to achieve innovative results or exchange best practices.
– During the mobility, students from Poland and Austria will participate in formal and non-formal learning activities.

Project report:
The exchange program kicked off with the warm welcome of the Austrian group at the Warsaw Central Railway Station, followed by the smooth transition to host families. The Polish project team Małgorzata Krzymińska, Agnieszka Karasek, Pawel Klukowsky and the project coordinator Anna Boguszewska welcomed the Austrian delagation
On Monday, the students engaged in a diverse range of activities, starting with a welcome from the school principal, Justyna Kapusta. The morning sessions included a school tour and a combined lesson on the significance of wind as an alternative energy source.
The afternoon was dedicated to integration workshops, focusing on tolerance and openness to different cultures. This interactive session was divided into two parts and provided students with a platform to learn and understand the importance of diversity. Following a lunch break, the program continued with a unique session titled “Music and the Wind.”
Later in the day, students visited the Warsaw Uprising Museum, delving into the historical context of the city. The day concluded with a return to school and students being picked up by their host families.
The activities not only provided valuable insights into the eVentus project but also facilitated cultural exchange and understanding among the participating students. The schedule seamlessly blended educational and cultural components, creating a rich and immersive experience for everyone involved. The upcoming days promise further engagement, fostering lasting connections and knowledge exchange within the Erasmus+ framework.
Tuesday’s schedule was designed to blend educational activities with interactive sessions, ensuring a holistic learning experience for the participants. The day began with engaging games and activities, setting a positive and collaborative tone for the day.
The morning continued with a structured Oxford debate, encouraging students to articulate and defend their perspectives on various topics. This session aimed at developing critical thinking skills and fostering effective communication among participants.
Following the debate, the program transitioned to a craft workshop and practical sessions on building mini wind turbines and wind farms. These hands-on activities not only provided insights into renewable energy but also promoted teamwork and creativity. Breaks were strategically incorporated, allowing students to relax, play ping-pong, and participate in a logo competition, enhancing the overall experience.
The afternoon concluded with dancing classes themed around the concept of “Wind means a Movement,” connecting the physical movement with the natural element. The day concluded with students returning to their host families, providing an informal setting for cultural exchange and bonding.
The formal dinner at 7:00 p.m served as a platform for students to reflect on the day’s activities, share experiences, and strengthen the connections forged during the exchange.
Wednesday’s program focused on the historical and political aspects of Poland, complemented by interactive and immersive activities. The day began with a meeting at the school, emphasizing the importance of coordination and communication.
The city game using the Actionbound app added an element of technology-driven exploration, fostering collaboration and strategic thinking among the students. A walk around the Royal Castle provided a glimpse into the rich history of the Old Town, linking the past with the present under the theme “The Wind of History.”
The thematic walk from Old Town to Nowy Świat University metro station, titled “The Wind of Change,” aimed to showcase the city’s transformation over time, aligning with the broader theme of the E-Ventus project.
The visit to the European Parliament was a significant highlight, offering students a unique opportunity to participate in a Role-Play Game. This practical engagement enabled a deeper understanding of political processes and encouraged teamwork.
