Treffpunkt Bibliothek: Monsters, poems and more …
The pupils from class 1E have much interest in reading. Stories about monsters are just up their alley. In this vein Prof.in Felfer read them “The Gruffalo”; a story that took them into the deep dark wood, where they discovered what happens when a quick-witted mouse finds itself face-to-face with an owl, a snake . . . and a hungry Gruffalo.
The story inspired them to draw the Gruffalo`s cave. In groups they created their own pictures of his lair, which were then presented in the classroom.
After studying hard for the test, Prof.in Zechner and her students (4AB) lightened up the lessons with poems. First, the students tried their hand at putting verses into the correct order to recreate poems by Prof. Ragland. After listening to the original poems and reading others by Benjamin Zephaniah and Roger McGough, they wrote their own.
Here are two of Prof. Ragland’s poems:
Knives and forks
and loving talks
friends come round
and pop some corks
Food on hot plates
bring smiles of faith
the air is garnished
with a feeling of being safe
Jokes told
stories bold
moments pass
with a clink of a glass
Harmony stays
till coffee is drunk
and the last drop squeezed
from this delightful lunch

If love is a wish, I wish to love all, and, myself as if I were all,

Differences
If love was a wish, I would probably miss
some chances to realise who in the world I really miss.
If love was a wish, people would stop some wars and realise how
stupid our world at the moment is.
If love was a wish, nobody would have to die,
no animals or people, because the planes with the bombs would not fly.
If love was a wish, we would all live in harmony together,
because no one would think they are stronger or better.
If love was a wish, there would be no ugly or pretty, and that would be perfect instead of pity.
But I have to say it like it is, at the moment love is not a wish.
